Abstract
" O problema da identidade pessoal tornou-se muito conhecido e debatido no meio acadêmico a partir da formulação dada por David Hume no livro I do “Tratado da Natureza Humana”. No entanto, o mesmo problema foi formulado de forma semelhante a Hume por outros autores do período moderno, muitos dos quais o autor cita ou comenta. Neste artigo vou apresentar algumas concepções sobre o problema da identidade pessoal tratadas por filósofos modernos anteriores ou contemporâneos a Hume e mostrar que, apesar de muitas concepções apresentarem grande semelhança com relação à formulação humeana, foi Hume quem conseguiu torná-lo explicitamente problemático e anexá-lo aos princípios de sua filosofia, dando a ele coesão e extraindo dele inferências compatíveis com a sua teoria do conhecimento" ["The problem of personal identity became widely known and debated in academic circle from the formulation given by David Hume in Book I of “A Treatise of Human Nature”. However, the same problem was formulated by other authors of the modern period in a similar way to Hume, many of them Hume quotes or comments. In this article I will present some conceptions on the problem of personal identity proposed by modern philosophers prior or contemporaneous to Hume and show that, in spite of many conceptions express much similarity with the Humean conception, was Hume who managed to make this issue explicitly problematic and attach it to the principles of his philosophy, giving it cohesion and drawing out inferences consistent with his theory of knowledge"]
