基督教是构成西方文化的主要因素之一，它在西方伦理文化中具有更突出的地位。《创世记》是《圣经》的开篇，它所反映的是基督教的核心信仰，也可以说在这里能够找到基督教其它信仰的理论基础。因此研究《圣经•创世记》对西方伦理文化的影响是具有重大意义的。
