按照富勒的观点，在法律与道德关系的论证中，现有文献存在诸多误区，而造成这些误区的首要根源是对道德含义界定的失败。富勒认为，对法律与道德的研究，首先应从关注道德的含义开始。他认为，道德可分为愿望的道德和义务的道德。
