Abstract
The paper investigates the the idea of woman's leadership from the perspective of Islam and Malay culture. In the early history of Islam, women tend to be dominated by man as the description of pathriarchal Arabic society rooted from Arabic culture. Here Islam is seen as the source of liberation for women, proven by some verses on the Qur'an stating that man and womah have the equality to be a leader.
