Abstract
The article discusses the role of customary law in Kampar Riau to solve conflict between Kampar people and government or multi and national corporation dealing with possessing land problems. As a result, there are four forms of possessing land in Kampar society based on costomary law: ulayat land, pusaka land, pulau timbul and anggun-anggun land. By understanding the customary law and local wisdom it is hoped to be capable of decreasing the conflict which always happens in Kampar.
