Abstract
"In recent years, numerous studies have emerged about indigenously founded, faith healing, and tongue-speaking phenomenon, which began in southern Nigeria in the early 1920s (Peel: 1968). The studies of the movement known as Aladura have now become a topic of considerable interest. For examples: Peel focuses on the historical perspective of the Aladura churches; Appiah-Kubi (1979) offers reasons for the emergence of Indigenous African Christian churches: while Babalola (1992) explores the alarming rate of growth with emphasizes on their modus operandi in light of traditional cultures. Babalola argues for the contextualization of Christianity through the Aladura churches."
