Abstract
"Following the 1998 Mines Ministers’ Conference in Calgary, a government-industry task force reviewed the recommendations of the Report of the Technical Committee on Business Taxation (TCBT) to analyze their potential effects on investment in the mining industry. The task force, named the Mintz Report Study Group, comprises representatives of the federal and provincial governments and the mining industry under the auspices of the Intergovernmental Working Group on the Mineral Industry. This report provides a synthesis of the results of the Study Group’s review. It was prepared by the Minerals and Metals Sector of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), on behalf of the members of the Mintz Report Study Group, and with their active participation."
