Abstract
"El nivel y la calidad del empleo se deterioraron fuertemente durante la convertibilidad y cuando esta implosionó en mayo del año 2002 la tasa de desempleo para el total de los aglomerados urbanos fue de 21,5%, la más alta de nuestra historia. Desde allí, según la Encuesta Permanente de Hogares (EPH), la tasa viene disminuyendo fuertemente -aunque el ritmo de la mejoría disminuyó desde fines de la década pasada por las restricciones externas e internas que enfrenta el proceso de crecimiento, básicamente la baja tasa de inversión directamente productiva-. Las tasas actuales de desempleo se estabilizaron entre 7 y 8%, pero son más altas que las de mayo de 1974 cuando fue del 5%, una situación cercana al pleno empleo" ["The level and quality of employment deteriorated sharply during the convertibility and when it is imploded in May 2002 the unemployment rate for the total urban areas was 21.5%, the highest in our history.
