Abstract
麦金太尔近期推出他的重要新作《依赖性的理性动物——为什么人需要德性》(Dependent Rational Animals—Why Human Beings Need Virtue)，使人们感受到了一个思想家在遵循自己的 思想路线进行不倦探索的努力。本书的基本思想立足于人的动物性存在的基本状态——人的 脆弱性与人的依赖性。其主要论点是，成为一个独立的实践推理者，只是人的生命的某些阶 段，由于人类生命的脆弱以及在不同生命阶段的无能(还有那些终生因生理原因而残疾者)， 人 在相 (《哲学动态》2003年第7期)当多的生命时间里是依赖性的存在者。因此，非算计性给予 和接受的关系是人类赖以生存的普遍性关系。在这样一种关系中，人既需要独立性的德性， 也需要依赖性的德性。
