Abstract
The paper investigates the role of one of the biggest of Islamic organizations in Indonesia, Muhammadiyah in coloring the democration process in the country. It is started by studying of certain values promoted in Muhammadiyah, such as individual freedom adn sovereignity, tolerance or criticism which are compatible with the western idea of democracy.
