Abstract
The Sultanate of Ternate had Kololi Kie’s ritual, it’s held once a year in the Legu Gam (people's Party). The ritual of Kololi Kie is a tradition of going around the mountain/islands of Ternate by sea. The ritual which is held to ask for the protection of the God, in order to save this country from bad things. In the tradition of Kololi Kie’s ritual, there are several categories of aspect intention. This categorization is divided into three parts, namely: a celebration of individuals, groups and other big celebration of the Sultanate. The core of the Kie Kololi’s ritual is gratitude for the gift of a favor from God as creator or asking for protection and salvation from God by symbolizing the mount of Gamalama. This paper discusses Kololi Kie from the perspective of cultural studies rituals.
