Abstract
"Aurelius Augustinus Hipponensis (354-430), mais conhecido como Santo Agostinho, foi um dos mais importantes teóricos da antiguidade tardia. Obviamente, o pensamento cristão não começa com o bispo de Hipona. Toda a patrística que o precedeu possui sua grandeza própria. Porém, nestes séculos atormentados que foram os IVº e Vº – depois da emergência de Constantinopla, saque de Roma... – algo novo começa ser tecido no próprio seio da teologia cristã, a saber: o diálogo intenso e profundo com a filosofia grega" ["Aurelius Augustinus Hipponensis (354-430), better known as St. Augustine, was one of the most important theorists of late antiquity. Obviously, Christian thought does not begin with the bishop of Hippo. All the patristic preceded has its own greatness. However, in these troubled centuries that were the IVth and Vº - after the emergence of Constantinople, sacking of Rome ... - something new begins to be woven in the very heart of Christian theology, namely: the intense and profound dialogue with Greek philosophy"]
