Abstract
The development of Pharmacy must go together with a serious refl ection on ethical consequences and implications. Moreover, the protection of life and health should be the starting point for these refl ections. At the same time, it is necessary to develop specifi c pharmaceutical ethics which respond to the special challenges of this profession. From this perspective, this article offers a general view of the main ethical issues that Pharmacists have to confront: the promotion of a rational use of medicines, specially while dispensing them; their duty to protect confi - dential data and the patients’ autonomy during the «drug-therapy follow up» in pharmacies; the inter-professional confl icts due to pharmaceutical care development; the online supply of medicines; the supply of medicines with abortifacient effects or euthanasia drugs; the pharmacist’s participation in health promotion campaigns such as syringe exchange schemes or the use of cannabis for medical purposes; and, fi nally, the role of the pharmacist in the current development of pharmacogenetics"]
