"ይህ የሥነ-ምግባር ደንብ ለቤተ-መጻህፍት ባለሙያዎችና ሌሎች የመረጃ (information) ሠራተኞች ሥነ-ምግባራዊ ማስገንዘቢያ እንዲሆናቸው የተዘጋጀ መምሪያ ሆኖ በተጨማሪም የቤተ-መጻህፍትና የመረጃ ማህበራት የአሰራር ደንቦቻቸውን በሚያዘጋጁበት ወይም የተዘጋጁ ካሏቸው እንደገና ከልሰው በሚያዩበት ወቅት ይህን የሥነ-ምግባር ደንብ ከግምት ውስጥ እንዲያስገቡት ታስቦ የተዘጋጀ ነው::" ["This Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct is offered as a series of ethical propositions for the guidance of individual librarians as well as other information workers, and for the consideration of Library and Information Associations when creating or revising their own codes."]
