"Los editores del manual de cirugía plástica han corrido el riesgo de invitar a un extraño a colaborar en esta obra. Me ocupo de la ética médica con carácter general y he objetado, sin éxito, que el campo especializado de la cirugía plástica y reconstructiva es para mí una tierra virgen. De este modo, sospecho que han querido expresamente incluir una visión desde fuera del dominio especial de la Cirugía. Puedo quizá alegar en mi descargo que naturalmente no hay una moralidad especial para los cirujanos plásticos, con principios morales diferentes de los vigentes para todos los médicos y que tienen igualmente vigencia en la vida normal".
