Abstract
I will discuss meaning of profit, legitimacy of profit and cooperative social-division-of-labor system (SDLS). Regarding meaning of profit, there are two views. One view is profit to be sought (PSV) while the other view is profit as remuneration (PRV). PSV is expressed as P(Profit)=R(Revenue)―C(Cost) while PRV is expressed as C+P=R. In PSV stockholders seek profit by increasing R and decreasing cost while in PRV revenue is distributed as remuneration to various stakeholders. Behind two views are different views on economic society: market fundamentalism for PSV, and cooperative social-division-of-labor system(SDLS) for PRV respectively. Regarding legitimacy of profit, there are 4 important points : ①Objective of business enterprises(BE), ②Fairness of means, ③Abstention from egoism,③Long term and broad vision. The objective of BE is to take some role in SDLS and accomplish its own role there. Business is not means for profit seeking. Unfair and unjust profit making must be eliminated. Behind two views ( PSV and PRV) are different views on economic society : market fundamentalism for PSV, and cooperative social-division-of-labor system (SDLS) for PRV respectively.
