Abstract
This article attempts to reflect the understanding about the challenges faced by Naqsabandi in Turkey and Indonesia. To analyze this case, the author begins with the explanation of secularization concept and how this concept is responded by each citizen. In Indonesia, secularization concept run passively while in Turkey run assertively. The author then analyzes the difference of Naqsabandi’s challenges in each country. The challenges which occur in Indonesia come from reformist group that criticize this tarekat based on their social behavior which is considered as heresy and shirk. Whereas the challenges faced in Turkey come from state institution. Secularism seems to be utilized by the ruler to hamper Naqsabandi movement which is viewed as the threat for the state.
