Abstract
This paper investigates the Islamic insurgencies in early 20th century that happened in Indonesia. These insurgencies arose the Islamic organizations which are divided into two: traditionalist organization such as Al-Washliyah, NU and Perti; and modernist organization such as Al-Irsyad, Muhammadiyah, Persis and Sarekat Islam.
