近年来，效率与公平的关系问题再次成为理论界争论的热点话题。不久前，分析马克思主 义学派、市场社会主义最重要的代表人物，美国耶鲁大学教授约翰 罗默(John Roemer)在中 央编译局进行的一场讲座却给了人们一种新的启发。约翰 罗默的讲座题目是 公平促进效 率 ，他从机会均等的角度对公平的定义进行了新的阐释。根据他的理论，公平与繁荣是相 辅相成的关系，而且从长远看，公平有利于长期的富足。据了解，世界银行最近发表的 《2006年世界发展报告：公平与发展》，其指导思想正是来自于罗默的相关理论。
