Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to explore Thomas Merton’s concept, the non-violent way, as one of the important criteria of responsible leadership in Christian community. Merton’s idea of the nonviolent way can be applied by Christians in standing against violence committed by religious extremists in Indonesia. Merton provides a great example of responsible leadership that religious community in Indonesia can learn in order to create a peaceful life together.
