近两年，中国舆论不仅强烈呼吁经济学者提高专业水准，还要求他们提高道德情操。前者须假以时日，不能一蹴而就，而后者则可以靠拍胸脯来达到。不奇怪，短时间里，媒体上就涌现了一批自称“研究穷人经济学”、“为广大股民说话”、“为社会整体代言”、“自己决不会被收买”的经济学者。这不是好现象。 不论是公众寄望于经济学者的道德，还是经济学者标榜自己的道德，都是可怕的趋势。经济学者本来是最明白其个人道德不可能改进社会的人。如果经济学者不但不去从事研究，还要靠标榜个人道德来提升自己的社会地位，那就意味着他双料的堕落。
