Abstract
Simone de Beauvoir in his famous book "The Second Sex" quotes “The body is not a thing, it is a situation: it is our grasp on the world and a sketch of our projects”, thus arguing that man has always conceived of himself as the essential self, and relegated women to the status of Other, the second sex. We focus in the paper on the effects of patriarchal markings on women’s body in different areas of sexuality as a social construct, defining beyond sexualities, and issues for discussion.
