Abstract
This article focuses on the leadership system of pesantren. The author states that many pesantren still refer to classical leadership system that is authoritarian leadership system. It means the existence of kyai as the leader in pesantren has the strong position. This writing substantiates the thesis that authoritarian leadership run in pesantren is impact from the patron-client relation between kyai and santri. This relationship is very useful to keep kyai’s authority and give good moral education to santri or to the society around pesantren.
